Guemes Island Drum Circle
Hosted by Bill Clark
Are you interested in being part of a hand drumming circle? No prior experience is required. The intent is to meet weekly to study and practice traditional and non-traditional African and Cuban rhythm ensembles including multiple drums, bell, and shaker parts. Our initial guide will be the book “Shadowing the Lion”, by master drum teacher Bill Matthews. The book is a collection of over 500 drum and bell patterns with easy to follow rhythm charts. The book can be seen at congajoy.com. The primary purpose of the drum circle will be to learn and play rhythms together for our own enjoyment. You do not need to have a drum for the first session, but if you do have one, please bring it.
